Top 5 Bible Verses You Need To Know Heading Into 2020

New years are new beginnings and an opportunity given by God for a fresh start. For many people, each new year starts with high hopes and expectations. Plans are made and goals are set by a majority of people and because of high and fresh hopes, people tend to make decisions, popularly called – New Year Resolutions.

The sad thing about these resolutions is that they die off for most people as soon as the year starts. As their hope begins to dwindle and they have settled down into the new year and its hustles and bustles, it becomes business as usual and those resolutions die off, never seeing the light of day.

Permit me to give you sound counsel as we countdown to the break of 2020.

Now that another new year is about to kick off, do not rely on new year resolutions if indeed you want to experience change and have a new beginning indeed. 

New year resolutions will always fail more often than not. So, instead of making new year resolutions, why don’t you lay hold on God’s promises as contained in the Bible, stand upon them, hold God by His Word and you would experience a new beginning as the new year dawns and through its twelve months.

All through scriptures, we see God as The Covenant Keeping God and covenants are one of the vital ingredients that God institutes at new beginnings. Here is yet another covenant God made with His people that you can hold on to. 

He said;

• His kindness will not depart from you in 2020
• His peace will not be removed from you in 2020
• He will have mercy on you in 2020

God’s integrity forbids that He doesn’t stay true to His promises, if only you can believe this verse, you will enjoy God’s kindness, covenant of peace and mercy all year round.

As you already know, everyone begins the new year, having dreams, goals and aspirations which they have set out to achieve. There are cares and concerns that could make us anxious when we think on how we would achieve these lofty dreams. But this scripture serves as a reminder to us, to never be anxious but rather, to rely on God as we go through the year, knowing fully well that He is capable of meeting all our needs and helping us achieve our goals.

We would be starting the new year on the wrong foot, if we for one moment think that 2020 will be like the previous years that we have been privileged to live through and experience. 

Your experience may not have been too good in the years gone by, notwithstanding, God is saying to you right now that you should not remember those ugly things that you experienced in yesteryears. They belong to the past and what you need to do is to learn lessons from them and move on because if you don't, the past is so strong that if left unchecked it is capable of robbing you of the present and the future. 

Forget all your past failures, flaws, regrets and defeats, 2020 is here and it is a new beginning altogether 

As we step into the new year, hold on to this beautiful promise from God and do not allow the events and experiences of the past years to rob you of launching out in 2020.

Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.  He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.

Psalms 21:2

As we begin 2020, here is yet another promise of God to you. Do you have desires that you want to see happen in 2020? If you do, then congratulations, because God said;

• He will grant your desires,  
• He would not withhold the requests of your lips as you pray to Him
• He will give you life, so you can be sure, untimely death has no hold on you

This is by far one of the most profound scriptures I know about new beginnings. You suddenly become restful when the realization dawns on you that God has a personal plan for all mankind and that includes you. God has a plan for you and it is a good plan. As we journey through the new year, trust God and His plan enough to discover this plan and run with it. Then and only then can we become all that God wants us to become.

In conclusion, as you journey through 2020, know that only God gives New Beginnings indeed and let this truth drive you to place your absolute confidence, trust and reliance on God alone.
